리드 얼라우드(Read Alouds) 어린이 영어책 추천

 

 

며칠 전 학교에서 만난 Librarian에게 초등학교 영어책 추천을 부탁하면서 킨더, 1, 2 학년이 꼭 읽어야 할 어린이 영어책을 추천해 달라고 했다. 그녀는 기다렸다는 듯이 10분 후 이메일을 보내줬는데.... 시대가 시대인 만 큰 웬만한 책은 유튜브를 통해서 Read-aloud가 가능했다.

영어책을 듣고 읽으면서 자연스럽게 영여 표현에 노출되는 것도 좋지만 그 속에 숨어 있는 작가의 메시지가 무엇인지 함께 얘기해 보면 좋겠다. 많은 책을 통해서 느끼는 것은 아이들이 그 누구보다 편견없이 크길 바라고, 새로운 아이디어를 생각해 내는 것이 얼마나 멋진 일이며 무엇에 도전하는 것이 참 용기란 메시지를 늘 전해준다는 것이다.
